How can I slim down my thighs and butt?

Tips for lower-body trouble spots...

Many people (especially women) have trouble slimming down their lower-bodies. Even people who work out regularly and eat a good diet often have difficulty with the two big "problem areas" - the thighs and butt.

So what's the solution? Well, first of all, realize that it's impossible to spot-reduce. Nothing except surgery can remove fat from just one part of your body!

You've got to lower your overall bodyfat levels in order to slim down your butt and thighs. You do this by following a good fat-loss plan involving exercise (both aerobic and strength training), diet, and supplementation.

If you're losing weight in other areas of your body but not seeing results in your lower half blame your genetics, which are obviously programmed to hold onto lower-body fat until the last second. Unfortunately, your butt and thighs will be the last areas of your body to become slimmer.

In terms of exercise, the best "lower-body toning" moves are squats and lunges. Keep the weight light and the reps high in order to avoid getting bulky butt and thigh muscles. If you have the type of leg muscles that get big easily, don't even use weights. Bodyweight-only lunges work well for many people and can be done anytime, anywhere.

Finally, try not to worry so much, especially if you're losing weight in other places and getting fitter all around. Many women become overly obsessed with how big their butts look or how thick their thighs are. It's very possible that you look much better than you realize!
